SB no-hit, shutout twice at Beaver

Penn State Fayette was swept in softball action Friday at Penn State Beaver, including being no-hit and shut out twice in a pair of five-inning games.

In the 10-0 opener, Beaver's Natalie Larkin struck out five as she threw a no-hitter and was a first-inning error away from a perfect game.

Beaver (12-8 overall, 12-8 PSUAC) scored seven runs in the first and Larkin's dominance eliminated any hope for a Fayette (3-17, 3-13) comeback.

Beaver had 11 hits, including five extra base hits.  Skylar Duffee homered, Madalyn Abramowicz tripled, and the trio of Lacey Weible, Morgan Lee and Marian Nelson all doubled.  Lee, Abramowicz, Nelson and Cassadie Speed each recorded two hits.  Lee drove in three while Speed and Duffee each record two RBI.

In the nightcap, Beaver won 12-0 and once again jumped out early on Fayette.  The hosts scored six times in the first, four more times in the second and twice in the third.

Kelsey Holp (Grindstone, PA/Frazier HS) had a double and a single for Fayette while Hope Hixon (Armagh, PA/United HS) had two singles.  Lauren Mastowski (Dawson, PA/Frazier HS) added a single for Fayette.

On Sunday, Fayette heads to Penn State New Kensington (10-10, 9-9) for a make-up double header from April 17.  Fayette is scheduled to close its season Monday when it hosts Beaver.
