Brandywine Rolls Through Beaver In 9-0 Rout

MONACA, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine scored early and often as the Lions' men's soccer team cruised to a 9-0 victory at rival Penn State Beaver on Saturday afternoon.

Raymond Kelly (Middletown, Del./Middletown), the reigning PSUAC Player of the Week, scored three times, giving him six goals in his last five games, while Chris Manful (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn) upped his PSUAC-leading goal total to 23 with a pair of markers. Jayden Barragan (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) and Zack Bardwell (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) both provided a goal and an assist.

Brandywine struck during the third minute with a goal from Barragan and quickly upped the margin to 2-0 when Barragan found Kelly for the Lions' second goal three minutes later.

Manful netted a penalty kick at the 11:12 mark, while Kelly recorded his second goal and Bardwell added a marker during the 41st minute to give Brandywine a 5-0 cushion at the half.

An own goal by Beaver upped the lead to 6-0 before Kelly completed his hat trick in the 66th minute. Manful made the count 8-0 and Khafren Smith (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy) capped the scoring during the 89th minute.

Brandywine, which played one man up for the final 81 minutes, outshot Beaver 46-6. Lions' goalkeeper Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) collected four saves to record his sixth shutout of the fall.

Brandywine (13-0-2, 6-0 PSUAC) continues conference play Tuesday at Penn State Wilkes-Barre at 4:00 PM.
