String of Doubleheader Splits Continues - Playoffs in Sight

(Beaver, PA) 3 recent series and 3 split doubleheaders for Greater Allegheny Softball as they head into the final weeks of the regular season.

GA split a home and home doubleheader with Penn State Fayette over the weekend. The trend continued on 4/13/21 against Penn State Beaver.

It was a strong start for the ladies from Mckeesport. GA was quick out of the gate scoring 3 in the top of the first. A 2 RBI single by Alyssa Guzzie (Pittsburgh, PA / Fox Chapel HS) got things started.

Annalise Andzelik (North Huntingdon, PA / Norwin HS) added to the lead in the top of the 4th with a two run homerun. The first of her GA career.

Beaver added a run late and things ended 6-1.

Ivy Mervis (Pittsburgh, PA/ Taylor Allerdice HS) collected 3 hits and Tara Love (Chandler, AZ / Campo Verde HS) tossed 7 strong innings of 5 hit, 1 earned run ball. She raised her record to 4-5 on the season.

 

Game 2 Recap

This was the 4th, 1 run game, that GA has played this season. 

Maura Ryan (Monroeville, PA / Gateway HS) was threw a masterful performance collecting 5 strikeouts over 6 innings. 1 small mistake in the bottom of the 4th and Beaver went ahead on an error at home plate. They never looked back seeing it out to a 1-0 victory.

The GA bats collected 6 hits but left 5 on base. 

Softball moves to 8-10 overall and 8-10 in the PSUAC. 

 

GA returns home on Wednesday, April 14 for a doubleheader at 5pm and 7pm with Penn State New Kensington.
