The Kent State Tuscarawas and Penn State Beaver basketball teams played evenly for nearly 35 minutes in Monaca, PA on Monday night, but the Golden Eagles literally stole the game in the waning moments to come home a 66-56 winner.

The Eagles proved that basketball is a game of runs and it's always better to stay within striking distance and have your moment in the final surge.

Both teams made 9-0 runs in the first half and PSB closed the opening 20 minutes with the last six points for a two-point lead at the break. Neither team led by more than six points and neither could get separation between one another.

The Eagles were grounded for the last 2:27 of the half and a 6-0 mini run by the Lions knotted the game at 27-27. A goaltending call on the Eagles gave the home team a 29-27 lead, and the Eagles had a chance to tie or take a lead into intermission after a steal by Kameron Shockley, but a traveling call negated that opportunity.

Trailing 31-29 at the intermission, the Golden Eagles matched their largest first half lead on a jumper with 12:43 left by James Roundtree. It would give them a 42-37 margin. The lead however, seesawed back and forth and a Lions three-ball deadlocked the game at 51-51 with seven minutes left to play.

The Eagles called for a 30-second timeout.

A subsequent Jordan Stevens steal led to a DeJuan Lawrence dunk and following a Lion turnover, Kameron Shockley drained a jumper, trailed seconds later by a Lawrence shot denial that led to another basket for Shockley spotting the Eagles to a 57-51 lead---their biggest of the game with 5:17 showing on the game clock.

At the 3:22 mark, Kameron Shockley scored another basket courtesy of a Lawrence steal. Lawrence committed another theft with 1:29 left and Stevens was fouled by the frustrated Lions on the post-steal possession. Stevens calmly sank two free throws for a 61-56 Eagles lead with 1:30 showing.

The Lions were their own worst enemy on the next offensive set, as they gathered two misfired offensive shots and failed to turn them into points. A third miss was tracked down by Braden Rostad with :28 ticks left and the Eagles headed downcourt.

Kameron Shockley was fouled and made one of two free throw chances but gathered his own miss and called for a time out with :23 left. Up 62-56, Shockley was fouled again on the inbounds pass and converted on both ends of a bonus foul for a 64-56 lead.

Shockley then came up big on the defensive end with a blocked shot that led to a run out dunk by brother Kyle Shockley as the Golden Eagles stole away into the night with a ten-point road win. Over the course of the final seven minutes of the game, the Golden Eagles outscored the hosts 15-5.

It was Kyle Shockley who laid the foundation for the win with timely baskets. He scored 11 first half points and led all scorers for the game with 20 tallies on 9/14 shooting for 64% from the floor. He was joined in double figures by London Cobbs with 15 points making 7/11 action shots (64%), while Kameron Shockley scored 13 and grabbed eight missed shots.

Lawrence scored six points, but snared eight rebounds, blocked five shots and had two of the biggest steals of the game.

KSU Tusc shot 48% for the game on 27/56 shooting and got 26 points from their bench.

On Sunday, November 28th the Eagles travel to Hocking College. Game time is 3:00 p.m.

London Cobbs starts a fast break and scored 15 points at PSU Beaver.
