Lady Lions Fall to First Place Penn State Beaver

Monaca, PA- The Lady Lions traveled to first place Penn State Beaver Wednesday night for a PSUAC West showdown.

New Kensington kept things close early on, playing solid defense and converting on the offensive end on their way to a 15-10 deficit at the end of the first quarter. Beaver got things going in the second, using a 17-3 run over the last 6 minutes to take a 35-17 lead at the break.

The Lady Lions put together a good second half but could not cut into the lead on their way to a 55-35 defeat.

Freshmen forward Esther Cole (Brooklyn, NY) paced New Kensington offensively, notching a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore point guard Destiny Batiste (Thibodaux, LA) added 9 points and 5 steals. Senior forward Shaylynne Boitnott (Meadville, PA) chipped in 6 points and 5 rebounds, while fellow guard Dorian Walker (Brooklyn, NY) scored 5 and grabbed 4 boards.

The Lady Lions will travel Northeast this Saturday, January 21st for another PSUAC West matchup with Penn State Dubois.
