Fayette Volleyball bounces back with win

The Penn State Fayette Volleyball team found itself back in the win column Wednesday thanks to a 3-1 Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) win at Penn State Beaver (18-25, 25-18, 25-14, 25-20).

Fayette could have been thrown for a loop as it found out at the last minute that Kristina Aeschbacher (Carmichaels, PA/Carmichaels HS) would not make the trip, but the team persevered and created distance in the PSUAC West division.

"They played hard and great (considering) the last-minute lineup changes that took place since Kristina couldn't make it," said head coach Sam Swetz. "I am proud of the hustle they showed tonight."

Fayette (7-6 overall, 5-3 PSUAC) recorded 38 kills and had 37 assists while Beaver (2-12, 2-5) led in digs, 32-13.

Alie McGee (Carmichaels, PA/Carmichaels HS) led Fayette with 20 assists while Jadyn Barnish (Carmichaels, PA/Carmichaels HS) added 13.  Angel Buwawa (Uniontown, PA/Laurel Highlands HS) had 13 kills while Noelle Hunter (Fredricktown, PA/Beth-Center HS) finished with 11 and Kamden Miller (Midland, PA/Lincoln Park HS) added nine.

The win keeps Fayette a half-game behind second place Penn State Mont Alto (10-6, 5-2) and Penn State Greater Allegheny (9-4, 5-2) while Fayette is now 2.5 games up on Beaver for fourth.

Fayette returns to action Sunday when it takes part in the PSUAC Crossover on Penn State's main campus Sunday as it is scheduled to play Penn State Lehigh Valley (5-5, 4-4) and Penn State Schuylkill (7-5, 5-3).
