MBB falls at Beaver

The Penn State Fayette men's basketball team closed out the regular season Thursday by dropping a Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) game at Penn State Beaver, 82-72.

"We played a great first half with Will (Hagwood) leading the way offensively," said Fayette head coach Andy Hedrick. "In the second half, their size wore us down."

Fayette held a 41-37 lead halftime, but when Beaver's Devon Johnson hit a three-pointer with 17:01 left to give the hosts a 46-44 lead, it was a lead Beaver would not relinquish the rest of the night.

Hagwood (Willoughby, OH/Willoughby HS) led Fayette with 25 points while Dom Boring (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster HS) added 12.  Both Mo Freeman (New Castle, DE/Salem Community College) and Tave Mozie (McClellandtown, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) each scored 10.  Jeremy Redwine led four Beaver players in double figures with 23 points and also grabbed 14 rebounds.  Johnson finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Izaiah Dickerson had 17 points and 10 rebounds while Chris Green had 14 points.

Beaver shot 49.3 percent (33 of 67) from the field while Fayette shot 43.7 percent (31 of 71).  Fayette made 10 three-pointers to five for Beaver, but the hosts made 11 of 15 free throws (73.3 percent) while Fayette only attempted one.   Beaver won the rebounding stat with 44 to Fayette's 31 and Beaver held the advantage in the paint, 52-38.
