VB sweeps PS Beaver

The Penn State Fayette Volleyball team picked up a Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) win Saturday with a 3-0 sweep at Penn State Beaver (25-7, 25-16, 25-19).

"We have finally found our offensive groove," said head coach Sam Swetz. "I think it was just a matter of our offensive players becoming familiar with our setters since half our hitters are new, along with our freshman setter (Allie McGee).  A 6-2 offense is a big adjustment for young players, but once they figure it out and get comfortable, it really shows in the stats and our record."

McGee (Carmichaels, PA/Carmichaels HS) finished with 16 assists, Kristina Aeschbacher (Carmichaels, PA/Carmichaels HS) had nine kills, a .471 kill percentage and three blocks, Ashlee Norman (Highlands Ranch, CO/Highlands Rach HS) had eight kills, Carissa Cyphert (Scottdale, PA/Southmoreland HS) recorded 11 digs, Kamden Miller (Midland, PA/Lincoln Park HS) finished with 12 digs and Jadyn Barnish (Carmichaels, PA/Carmichaels HS) tallied 20 assists.  The team also had 11 service aces.

Fayette (4-2 overall, 2-0 PSUAC) has won two matches in a row and sits in first place in the PSUAC West division.

Fayette heads to Penn State Greater Allegheny (5-5, 1-1) Wednesday for a PSUAC tilt.

It will be a rematch from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Tipoff when Greater Allegheny swept Fayette, 3-0.
