MONACA, Pa.— In their second showdown of the season, the Penn State Beaver women's volleyball team hosted PSUAC rivals, Penn State Fayette, Tuesday night and lost 3-0.
The Lady Lions struggled to find their offensive rhythm in the first set and allowed Fayette to outscore them 25-14. In the second and third set, Beaver kept the sets close, only trailing Fayette by single digits. However, the Lady Lions weren't able to make enough runs to take the lead from Fayette in the final two sets and lost 25-19 in both sets, taking a 3-0 loss for tonight's PSUAC conference match.
Senior Amanda Mike (Hopewell) led the offense with nine kills, two service aces and one dig, followed by sophomore Ramiya White (Westland/Wayne Memorial), who tallied up five kills and one block. Sophomore Kelsie Hallum (Hopewell) finished with 18 assists and two digs. On defense, sophomore Heaven Bowman (Houston/Dulles) finished with 15 digs.
Beaver falls to (7-5) overall for the regular season and (3-2) in the PSUAC conference standings.
The Lady Lions will head to University Park for two scheduled matches Saturday, Sept. 28, for the PSUAC Crossover Weekend. Beaver will face off against Penn State Schuylkill at 2 p.m. and Penn State York at 4 p.m.
