Women's Volleyball Wins 5th Straight Match
Beaver - 3, New Kensington - 0
New Kensington, PA -- Beaver defeats New Kensington in three straight sets to advance to 2-0 in the PSUAC.
In their second conference match of the season, Beaver traveled to New Kensington this afternoon. The ladies came out looking relaxed and poised, ready to face the challenge ahead. Senior, Ryanne "Roxy" Kie did a nice job distributing the ball in the first set, as four of the five hitters scored for the Lady Lions. They took the set easily, 25-9.
In the second set, Beaver started to get laxidazical in their passing and forced their offense primarily to the outsides, but were able to win the set 25-14 after a much improved performance from the service line compared to the first set.
In the third and final set, the ladies of New Kensington started to battle, showing hustle and determination in their offense and gave Beaver a tough time, forcing them to make errors at the net. However, Beaver hung on to the victory 25-19 to win the match 3-0.
Beaver was led on offense by senior, Jenna Petrucci who had 10 kills on the day followed by Amanda Mike with six. Brooke Tomasko led the team in aces with 5 while Alexis Albrecht and Jocelyn Krotec kept the defensive game in check, combining for 15 digs in the match.
The Lady Lions now sit at 2-0 in the PSUAC and 6-3 overall. They next travel to Butler County Community College on Wednesday, September 27th for a non-conference game.
