Bio

Coach Moore, a two-time recipient of both the USCAA DII Coach of the Year and PSUAC Coach of the Year, is entering year fiftenth with the Beaver women's basketball program and his tenth year as the head coach with a career record of 202-121, and PSUAC record of 159-73.

Moore returned to the program after a two-year stint at USCAA Division 1/NAIA, Carlow University.  Taking over at Carlow in 2017, Coach Moore amassed an overall record of 19-38 and guided his team to the USCAA National Tournament Quarterfinals last season.  He also produced two USCAA All-Americans in the 18-19 season with Carlow.  During his time at Carlow they beat cross town rival Point Park University for the first time in 18 years. Also, Coach Moore led his team to a win over a nationally ranked NAIA program for the first time in school history.

Looking to improve on an already great record Coach Moore and his team set out for the 2022-23 season. The Lady Lions went 24-5 overall and 16-3 in confernce this season. The team made it to the PSUAC Playoffs again but fell short in the Semi-Finals game against Penn State Lehigh Valley. The Lions went on to get another bid to the National Tournament though and went 2-1 this time taking out the #1 seed Central Maine CC.

After his return Coach Moore led his team to a 20-9 season overall going 14-5 in the PSUAC in the 2021-22. With a stellar PSUAC record the Women's Basketball team was able to secure another PSAUC championship over Penn State Schuylkill. The Lady Lions as got a bid to the National Tournament where they went 1-2 making it to the quarterfinal round.

In Coach Moore’s first year back with the program (2019-2020) he led his program to the best record in school history with a 27-4 overall record and its first undefeated conference title record of 17-0.  Penn State Beaver earned its the number one seed going into the USCAA national championship games and did not disappoint.  The Lady Lions defeated all three opponents by a double-digit margin earning their second USCAA Division II National Title. Two players earned All-American status as well as national all-tournament team.  The Penn State Beaver Lady Lions are the only four-year school in the country to win a national championship during the 2020 season due to COVID.

After a year break from COVID, Coach Moore and his team took the court once again for the 2021-2022 season.  With four key returners back from the national championship team they hoped for another impressive run.  While they started the season slow, they finished strong.  Coach Moore won his second straight conference championship defeating Penn State Schuylkill 59-51. This was Coach Moore’s sixth conference championship in eight (playing) seasons. They once again qualified for the USCAA National Tournament but lost in the Elite 8 to number one seed Johnson & Wales. The team finished the season with a record of 20-9 overall and 14-5 in the conference.

Prior to his departure, in the 2016-17 season, the Lady Lions returned to the post season. Looking for its fifth straight conference title the Lady Lions eventually fell in the PSUAC semi-final against Penn State Hazleton ending their year with a 17-9 record overall and 12-2 in the PSUAC.

In the 2015-16 season, Coach Moore and the Lady Lions captured their 4th consecutive PSUAC Championship with a conference record of 13-1 (19-10 overall).  The victory gave them an automatic bid back to the USCAA Women's Basketball Division II tournament where they attempted to defend their national championship but fell to St. Joe's - Vermont in the semi-final round.

Under Moore, the Lady Lions won six of eight conference championships and in the 2014-15 season they won their 1st National Tournament in the program's history.  That also marked the first time any PSUAC school has won a USCAA National Championship.

Moore is a 1996 graduate of Freedom High School where he received All-Tournament Team Selections in 1995 and 1996. He was captain of the Bulldogs in 1996 and selected for the Quigley Classic All-Star Game.

Later, he became head coach of the Monaca varsity girls' basketball team, leading the team to two consecutive WPIAL appearances with an overall record of 18-27 and a section record of 15-9 in two seasons.
