Beaver Secures First PSUAC Win of the Season
The Lady Lions take down Penn State Mont Alto in their first PSUAC game of the season.
Monaca, PA - Taking on Penn State Mont Alto in the teams first PSUAC game of the season, Penn State Beaver came out with something to prove as the defending PSUAC Champions. Today the Lady Lions were able to secure the win against Penn State Mont Alto with a score of 87-64. Within the first few minutes of the game the Penn State Beaver took a comanding lead which at one point was 14 points in the first quarter, finishing the quarter Beaver was up 25-22. In the second quarter of the game Beaver finished 8 points ahead, giving them an 11 point cushion going into halftime. Second-year, Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX) scored the first two points of the game off of a lay up only 15 seconds into the game. This was quickly followed up by a 3-point shot scored by second-year, Claudia Siegfried (Wilkes-Barre, PA). Beaver hit a low scoring point during the first quarter after hitting the 18 point mark; the team went a little over 3 minutes not scoring until First-year, Morghan Prevost (Houston, TX) scored off a free-throw. Prevosgt also scored the final 2 points of the quarter with a layup with a second left. Prevost also began the second quarter with a lay-up bringing the team to 27 quickly. Beaver held their lead through the entire second quarter, the teams largest lead of the quarter was 11 which was also what they led by going into the half. Closing out the half was First-year, Bailey Rieg (Pittsburgh, PA) who made a lay-up to get the team to an even 50 points. For the first time this game, Beaver was not the first to score in the 3rd quarter. Second-year, Taylor Woodruff (Pittsburgh, PA) took her opportunity and scored off a layup for Beaver to begin their scoring in this quarter. Woofruff scored their final points of the quarter off another layup and helped put Beaver up by 17. Beaver scored first in the final quarter with a layup by Prevost once again. The final points of the game for either team was scored with 1:54 left in the game by First-Year player Katie Enderle (Darlington, PA) who score off of a layup. With a final score of 87-64 the Lady Lions secured their first victory of the 2024-25 PSUAC season with a 23 point margin.
Leading the team this game was Second-year Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX) who played a strong game both offensively and defensively getting having 23 points., 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. First-year Cashimere Ralph (Pittsburgh, PA) scored 11 points, had 6 rebounds, and 1 steal. Second-year Taylor Woodruff (Pittsburgh, PA) scored 10 points this game along with having 4 rebounds, 7 assists and 1 steal. First-year, Jaden Tesch (Chippewa, PA) also scored 10 points this game, had 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 7 steals this game. First-year players, Bailey Rieg (Pittsburgh, PA), First-year, Pricilla Long (), First-year, Katie Enderle (Darlington, PA) and Second-Year player Claudia Siegfried (Wilkes-Barre, PA) all scored during this game as well.
