Butler Community College Goes Down as Beaver Continues Their Winning Streak
Butler, PA - The Women's Basketball Team was on the road for the first time since the start of the second half of their season traveling to take on Butler Community College. The last time Beaver was on the road, they lost after having a strong lead for much of the game. Going into this game, Beaver had a 5 game winning streak, and they kept it going after a big run in the fourth quarter.
The first quarter started out in Butler's favor. They came out on a 5-0 run and got a early 9 point lead half way through the first quarter. Beaver held on and closed the gap ending the quarter down by 1. Butler put up 13 points and Beaver was right behind them with 12. Beaver scored quickly into the second quarter after a foul by Butler. Their lead was short lived as Butler was able to get numerous fast break layups. Beaver remained within 3 points of Butler for most of the second. The half ended in Butler's favor with the score sitting 27-24.
Butler came out scoring the first basket in the third quarter. Beaver quickly was down by 5 points, but this did not last long. Beaver did not give up and y the end of the third, the game was tied 43-43. The fourth quarter was greatly in favor of Beaver. They came out early making a three point shot. They took a small lead, but Butler was quick to get back into the lead. This was until Beaver switched up their evens, forced Butler to turn the ball over, fouled out Butler's offensive threat, and finished at the basket. This all took place with just a few minutes left. Within no time, Beaver took the lead and closed the game with a 61-52 win.
Junior Alison Boykin (Canton, OH) put up 22 points in Beaver's win. Booking also finished with 3 steals and 8 rebounds. Sophomore Kiera Baker (Houston, TX) was also a key player in the win finishing with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Freshman Makitah Logan (Pittsburgh, PA) came off the bench to get 5 steals, 4 assists, and 6 rebounds. Logan also finished with 8 points.
