Beaver continued their weekend of conference matchups Saturday afternoon when they took on Penn State Lehigh Valley. The team could not quite get past their opponent, being defeated 78-65.
As the game started, Beaver struggled to jump ahead, as Lehigh Valley made an early lead. Senior Brittany Jackson led the team throughout the half on the scoreboard, while junior Ally Rudolph led in 3-point jump shots. Beaver outshined Lehigh Valley in successful 3-pointers throughout the game.
The first period showed the team struggling to get ahead, as Lehigh Valley led the end of the first by a score of 20-12. The second half showed Beaver fighting to get ahead, as they outscored their opponent. Beaver managed to tie the game a few times in this half, though Lehigh Valley still came out ahead.
As the second half began, Lehigh Valley was leading by 6 points, with the score at 38-32. Beaver was still determined to come out on top, attempting to use their defensive skills wisely. Both teams made an equal amount of goals in the third, keeping Lehigh Valley ahead by 6. In the fourth period, however, Beaver did not make quite as many goals as they needed, with Lehigh Valley outshooting them. As the game drew to a close, Beaver was defeated 78-65.
The team is now 5-11 in their overall season and 4-3 in the PSUAC conference. They will return home Tuesday night as they take on Carlow in another conference match.
