Penn State Beaver's Lady Lions returned to the road on Tuesday as they faced off against Penn State Du Bois in their latest PSUAC conference matchup. The close matchup resulted in Beaver falling to Du Bois 70-61.
The first quarter started in Du Bois' favor, as they scored 4 points within the first 2 minutes. Freshman Diamond Thomas put Beaver on the board 3 minutes in with a jump shot. With 45 seconds left in the quarter, freshman Jakhira Legoskey made a jump shot that ended the quarter with both teams tied at 12.
The second quarter started in Beaver's favor, as Legoskey made another jump shot. That gave the team a 2 point lead, but Du Bois quickly tied the game up once more. After a free throw by Legoskey and a 3-point jump shot by senior Roxy Kie, Beaver suddenly gained a 4 point lead. But Du Bois worked to shrink that lead, as the quarter ended with Beaver leading by 1 point.
The third quarter started with Beaver fighting to stay ahead, with 3 points scored by senior Brittany Jackson. Jackson worked to keep the team ahead after Du Bois continued to tie the game. The team was able to build a 5 point lead following a jump shot by sophomore Cheyenne Lopez, but Du Bois roared back, ending the quarter with a 1 point lead over Beaver.
By the time the fourth quarter started, things were starting to swing in the direction of Du Bois, though Beaver would not go without a fight. As Du Bois continued to rebound the ball, Beaver grew further apart from their opponent on the scoreboard, losing the game 70-61.
Beaver now holds a 3-6 overall for the season and a 3-1 conference lead. They will return home Friday for a conference faceoff against Penn State Fayette.
