Three Seniors Named All-Americans, Coach Moore Coach of the Year
Seniors, Khalia Adams and Morgan Kurtz named USCAA 1st Team All-Americans as Coach Moore earns USCAA Division II Women's Basketball Coach of the Year
Uniontown, PA -- Seniors earn All-American honors while Coach Moore is named USCAA Division II Women's Basketball Coach of the Year
After winning their 4th straight PSUAC Championship and claiming the #5 seed at the USCAA National Tournament Coach Moore and his seniors earn post season honors. At the annual awards banquet, held at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, seniors, Khalia Adams and Morgan Kurtz both earned 1st Team All-American awards for their efforts this season. Kurtz, earning the honor for the second year in a row, scored 436 points so far this season, averaging just over 16 points per game. Kurtz also shot nearly 40% from behind the 3-point line. Khalia Adams, who earned an All-American award for the first time in her career, scored 496 points so far this season averaging 18.4 points per game and also shooting nearly 40% from 3-point range. Coach Moore, who is in his 5th year as the Head Coach of the Lady Lions was named Coach of the Year as he prepares to defend his National Championship. With a career record of 94-46, he has lead his team back to the natinoal tournament again this year after battling a slow start to the season, rallying to win his final 14 games of the year.
Also earning an All-American award was men's basketball player, Lamont Wright, who was the lone senior this season. Wright was honored with a 2nd-Team award as he put up 491 points this season, averaging 21 points per game. This is also Lamont's first All-American nod in his career at Beaver, despite a tough season as Beaver missed the playoffs for the first time in Wright's career.
With the men's season in the books, the Lady Lions continue their's on Thursday, March 3rd at 9:30pm when they play their opening game of the USCAA National Tournament here in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
