Strong 2nd Half Propels Lady Lions to 8th Win of Season
Freshman Kayona Ward Led the Lady Lions with 20 points to win number eight.
Harrisburg, PA- The Lady Lions won their eigth game of the season, defeating Central Penn College 90-64.
In the first half, Central Penn built and early lead, but Beaver erased that lead at the 13 minute mark, and never looked back. Beaver led by six (41-35) at half time.
In the second half, it was all Beaver. For the half, Beaver shot 18/48 from the floor and 5/12 from behind the arc compared to 10/37 and 2/11 for Central Penn.
Freshman Kayona Ward (Beaver Falls/Beaver Falls, PA) scored a career high 20 points to lead Beaver in scoring. Sophomore Brooke Mulniex (Riverside/ Beaver Falls, PA) and Freshman Amanda Temple (Avella/ Avella, PA) added 18 and 17 points respectively.
Beaver held a big advantage on the boards in the win, out rebounding C.P. 61-42; but more impressively grabbing 23 offensive rebounds. Temple grabbed a game high 15 rebounds, with Ward grabbing 14 and Mulniex getting 10.
With the win, Beaver imporves to 8-1 on the season (5-0 PSUAC). The women will return to action on Thursday, January 5th, 2012, at 7 p.m., when they host the University of Virginia- Lynchburg.
