Lady Lions Lose First Game of Season
Beaver falls to Carlow in tip-off tourny in PIttsburgh
Pittsburgh, PA- The Penn State Beaver Women's Basketball Team (0-1, 0-0 PSUAC) played their first game of the season against the Celtics of Carlow University (Pittsburgh, PA). With a new Coach as well as new players, the Lady Lions were looking to start off the season right.
In the first half, Sophomore Coleen Mead (Newport Harbor/Costa Mesa, CA) started the game with a three pointer giving Beaver an early 5-2 run in the game. The Celtics quickly came back with strong defense before taking a 26 point lead at the half.
In the second half, Beaver came out with a better game plan causing 3 straight turnovers on Carlow's end. Freshman Amanda Temple (Avella/Avella, PA) went to the free throw line making 50% of her shots bringing Beaver within 15 points at once. Beaver would fall to Carlow unfortunately 78-59 for the evening.
The Lady Lions will play on Saturday, November 19, 2011 against Fransican University (Steubenville, OH) at 3pm at Chatham University.
