Beaver Goes 0-2 in the final day of Spring Training
Myrtle Beach, SC -- Beaver Goes 0-2 in the final day of Spring Training.
Facing Daneville Area Community College in their last game of the spring trip, Beaver looked to even their record to 4-4 on the week.
After giving up an early run in the first, Beaver kept Daneville off the board in the second and looked to get some offense of their own going. With one out, Brittany Zahn doubled, followed by Jessica Hughes with a single to put runners on the corners. Unfortunately, the next two batters went hitless and Beaver left two on base in the scoreless inning.
The Lady Lions then gave up a run in the third and two more in the fifth to fall behind 4-0. With the pressure on, Beaver knew they needed to start to edge their way back into the game but went hitless in the bottom of the fourth. In the fifth inning, Beaver couldn't find an answer to the hot bats of Daneville, giving up five additional runs to fall behind 9-0. In the bottom of the inning, Hughes singled, but that would be the only hit in the inning forcing the end of the game by the mercy rule.
With the 9-0 loss, Beaver falls to 3-5 on the season as they spring training week comes to a close.
Leading the team in the game was Jessica Hughes who went 2 for 2. Also contributing were Carley Schroeder and Brittany Zahn who each had a hit as well.
