Schuylkill, PA -- The Penn State Beaver men's soccer team traveled to Penn State Schuylkill for their first conference matchup of the year, looking to start conference play with a good win. Beaver has been looking good early in the year so far, competing in some tough matches to start off the season.
The game was a hot one, as the men started off the game looking very impressive. Unlike their first two games, they came out and looked to dominant and it was only a matter of time before they put one in the back of the net. Finally, in the 29th minute, sophomore Julius Illiano broke the tie game scoring for Beaver and giving them a 1-0 lead. Then, in the 42nd minute, Illiano scored again as Beaver proved that they were ready to win this game and finally be the dominant team that they were last year.
Beaver came out in the second half just as they did in the first, as they played a very good and consistent game up and down the field. The Beaver defense refused to crack all game, as they didn't let up a single goal while racking up two more this half of play, taking home the win by a score of 4-0.
Beaver looked very impressive in their win today, seeming to return to how they played last season. Beaver's Julius Illiano, who scored three goals in the game, was one of the players who really contributed to Beaver's dominance during the game. The team now sits with a 1-2 record overall, and is 1-0 in conference play. The men will return to action on Sunday, September 11 at 2 pm at Penn State Mont Alto.
