Penn State Beaver Falls to Mont Alto in PSUAC Playoffs
In their quarterfinal mathchup against Penn State Mont Alto, Penn State Beaver ends up getting knocked out of the PSUAC playoffs ending their season with a 13-13 record.
Mont Alto, PA - In their quarterfinal matchup againt Penn State Mont Alto, Penn State Beaver ends up getting knocked out of the PSUAC playoffs by a final score of 79-58. With a final record of 13-13, Beaver's shot at a PSUAC title has ended, as they got behind early in their final matchup and were never able to make a push to catch up to Mont Alto.
The start of this game was slow for Beaver, as Senior guard John Foster (Austin, TX, Del Valle) scored the games first layup before Beaver let Mont Alto go on a 16-0 run for the next 10 minutes of play. After a three-pointer by Senior guard Kevin Louis-Charles (Lawerenceville, GA/ Central Gwinnett) Beaver would pick up the pace, not letting Mont Alto go on another big run for the rest of the first half. However, there was no stopping the offense of Mont Alto as they were able to add on another 19 points in the next 10 minutes, bringing the score to 35-15 at the half.
After their bad start in the first half, Beaver had a lot of ground to make up and the game seemed to turn into a game of catch-up that Beaver was unable to win. While the second half showed a different team that was much more capable of scoring, they weren't able to close the gap that Mont Alto had created, even with a double-double performance, 21 points and 11 rebounds, by John Foster. The rest of the Beaver team just couldn't seem to find their groove as the final minutes drained out on their season and Beaver was sent home from the PSUAC playoffs by a final score of 79-58.
With a poor offensive start to blame in this game, Beaver was unable to find their groove througout the entirety of this matchup as the team shot a mere 34% from the field. Although they had life in the second half, led by John Foster's double-double and strong performance's by Junior guard Keon Butler (Annapolis, MD Star Severn School), 12 points and 4 assists, and Junior forward Andrew Brady (Alliance, OH/ Marlington), 11 points and 6 rebounds, Beaver's season would end against Mont Alto.
