Taking to the road for their first game back after break, the Penn State Beaver men's basketball team faced off against a good non-conference opponent in Kent State-Tuscarawas for the second time this season. In the two teams first meeting Beaver dominated Kent by a score of 92-45, and while they couldn't manage to repeat the same stellar performance in this one they still managed to take home a 91-80 victory.
The game started off more in the favor of Kent, as they jumped out to a small lead for more than half of the first 20 minutes. Around the 15 minute mark of the first half, however, Beaver started to come back and would eventually cut Kent's lead to one point going into the half. At the start of the second half Beaver came out very energized and overtook Kent's lead very quickly. Beaver played much better in the last 20 mins of the game, and Kent was not able to keep up as Beaver was able to finsih with an impressive 91-80 win.
This game was a closer game throughout then the first matchup of these two teams, although Beaver still maintained an edge over Kent. The team was led by Senior Ignacio Alleyne, who scored a team high 31 points while hauling in 14 rebounds. With this win after their long break, the team seems to be well rested and hungry to improve on their now 7-7 overall record. The team will take to the road again for their next game against Penn State Worthington Scranton on Friday, January 13. Game time for the game is set for 8 pm.
