Nittany Lions win against St. Vincent Bearcats
Beaver wins, 85-83
La Roche, PA- The Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions won against the St. Vincent Bearcats during the La Roche College Tournament.
In the first half, Beaver's Rob Agurs (Pittsburgh, PA / Penn Hills) made a free throw in the first minute giving them the lead. Agurs scored again a few seconds later putting Beaver up 3 points. Chris Weathers (New Brighton, PA / New Brighton) also scored giving them a 5-0 lead. The Bearcats answered with a layup of their own making the score 5-2. The Bearcats points shifted the momentum and the score went back for the remainder of the half. At one point Bearcats held the lead until 9:26, when Agurs made a 3 point jump shot making the score 23-21 in favor of Beaver. The half ended with a score of 45-39 with points by Nick Miller (Beaver Falls, PA / Beaver Falls), Chris Best (Brooklyn, NY / Bishop Ford), and Markes Royster (Pittsburgh, PA / Penn Hills).
In the second half Beaver dominated the court, scoring points and when the Bearcats would score Beaver would answer. Beaver's Tiere Phillips (Pittsburgh, PA / Penn Hills), Tre Major (New Castle, PA / Union), along with Miller, Agurs, Weathers, and Best all adding points. Beaver held the lead up until the 0:03 mark when the Bearcats tied up the score at 83-83. Beaver's Miller was able to shoot two free throws giving them the win at 85-83.
Beaver faces off against Hiram College tomorrow in the second half of the La Roche College Tournament at 6 p.m.
