Beaver Finishes With a Winning Weekend

On Saturday, Dec. 6, The Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions traveled to Penn State Wilkes-Barre for a PSUAC game. The Lions found themselves in a close contest despite freshman Jordan Clingensmith (Union, PA) connecting on three consecutive 3-point shots to put Beaver up 37-24 with under 7 minutes remaining in the first half.
Beaver would finish the half with strong play from Tony Houghton (Pittsburgh, PA)(10 points) and A.J. Poindexter (Wilkinsburg, PA) (3 points) and Billy Houghton (Slippery Rock, PA) connected on a running bank shot in the lane to push the Beaver led to 43-30 at the half.
Beaver would start the 2nd half off strong as Ed Coleman would connect on all 3 free throws when sent to the line. With Beaver bringing intense defense, Wilkes-Barre would be forced to call a time out at the 15 minute mark with Beaver leading 55-38. Beaver would again show their strength with the shot clock winding down to put up a shot and pull in the offensive rebound by Zach Fetching (8 Points). With 9:20 left in the 2nd half Beaver would lead by 20 points with a score of 65-45 after Poindexter (Wilkinsburg, PA) would connect on free throws. Beaver would play strong until the end and win with a final score of 77-58.
In the victory over Penn State Wilkes-Barre Clingensmith (Union, PA) would lead with 12 total points as Ed Coleman (Blackhawk, PA) followed up with 11 total points. Beaver now holds an overall record of 3-3 and a conference record of 2-1. Beaver will look to continue its winning streak when they travel to Penn State Fayette on Monday, Dec. 8. Game time is set to start at 8 p.m.
