Beaver Defeats Mont Alto; Advances Conference Record to 9-1

The Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions hosted the Nittany Lions of Mont Alto on Saturday, January 24th, in a PSUAC game.
The Lions of Beaver jumped ahead in the first half with the lead over Mont Alto. Beaver led 25-10 at the six minute mark after an impressive 12-0 run against Mont Alto. Defensively, Beaver clamped down on Mont Alto, allowing only 18 first half points (34-18). In the 2nd half, Mont Alto looked to cut Beaver's lead but still trailed 45-29 at the 12-minute mark. Beaver prevailed by a score of 67-49, and advanced their conference record to 9-1.
Senior Matt Franitti (Blackhawk HS/Beaver Falls, PA) and freshman Tony Houghton (Perry Traditional Academy HS/Pittsburgh, PA) each led the team with 11 points. Mont Alto's Luke Oyler led with 13 points.
Beaver (12-4) look to continue their conference winning streak when they host the Nittany Lions of Greater Allegheny on Monday, January 26th. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
