Fightin' Beavs 2017 WPACRHL Champions!
Neville Island, PA -- Sweeping Slippery Rock 2-0 in a best of three series, Penn State Beaver claims the 2017 WPACRHL Championship.
After an up and down year, going 8-7 in the regular season, the Beavs shifted into high gear for the playoffs.
Taking on IUP in the first round, a team they had lost to only once in the regular season, Beaver made quick work of the Hawks, winning big by a final score of 8-0. The win advanced them into the finals where they drew Slippery Rock, one of the best teams in the league this year.
In the first game of the three game series, played on April 5th, the Beavs came out strong and won by a final score of 7-3 to take a 1-0 series lead. With game two less than 24 hours away, they didn't have much time to celebrate their victory before they needed to focus on unfinished business from last season.
Game two had a much different feel, tension high, but the Beavs not only won the game, but held SRU scoreless, winning the 2-0 shut out to claim the 2017 WPACRHL Championship for the second time in three seasons.
