Losing Streak Extends to 11 After Franciscan Defeats Beaver in Double-Header
Steubenville, OH - The Baseball team here at Penn State Beaver was on the road today taking on Franciscan University in a double-header. Beaver has had a rough start to the season entering this game on a 9 game losing streak. The first game was a hard one to watch after Beaver lost 22-0. Franciscan started out scroing 4 runs in the first inning. They followed this by scoring 6 runs in the thir inning, and really ending the game by scoring 12 runs in the fifth inning. The second game was not much better for Beaver. They managed to score 2 runs this game, 1 in the second inning and 1 in the third. Beaver held Franciscan to 9 runs this game. Franciscan scored 2 runs in the second inning, 3 runs in the third inning, 2 in the fourth, and 1 in the fifth and sixth innings. Franciscan would send Beaver packing after defeating them 9-2.
In the first game, Beaver had four pitchers. Freshman Jordan Streamo (Niles, OH) faced 21 batters in Beaver's loss giving up 11 hits, which resulted in 10 runs, had 8 erros, and walked 2 batters. Streamo did manage to strike out 2 batters. Junior Ricardo Elizondo Jr. (Los Angeles, CA) faced 11 batters striking out 4 of them. Elizondo Jr. did, however, have 4 errors and 4 walks.
In the second game, sophomores Jericho Dela Cruz (Auburn, WA) and Aaron Stribling (Hainesport, NJ) each scored 1 run for Beaver. Stribling was a pitcher for Beaver facing 26 batters. Stribling had 1 strike out, but gave up 6 hits resulting in 8 runs, had 4 errors, and walked 4 batters.
Beaver will start conference play Saturday, Marc 25, where they will be traveling to take on Penn State Fayette in a double-header. The games begin starting at 1pm, so be sure to wish them luck!
