Beaver Baseball Eliminated From PSUAC Tournament
Dubois, PA -- Beaver loses second game resulting in their elimination from the tournament.
After losing their first game to Brandywine, Beaver had to play back-to-back, facing elimination. Wilkes-Barre took an early one-run lead, but then were held scoreless through the next three innings.
In the top of the fifth, Beaver bats got hot. Senior, Matt Capo, tripled to score Shelton Hilliard who was walked in his at bat. With the game tied, Beaver kept the pressure applied, forcing a pitching change and then scoring two additional runs. The first coming after Scott Hughes reached on an error, scoring Capo. Then Hughes coming across the plate on a Justyn Francona single.
With the 3-1 lead, Beaver looked to be in good position heading into the later part of the game, but gave up a run in the bottom of the inning (3-2) and then gave up the lead in the bottom of the sixth when Wilkes-Barre took the 4-3 lead.
In their final at bat, Beaver managed to get the tying run to third, but weren't able to get it across the plate.
The loss ends Beaver's season with an overall record of 9-17.
