Monaca, PA -- Beaver Defeats Greater Allegheny at Home

Beaver faced off against Penn State Greater Allegheny Friday afternoon in their first of three weekend games against the PSUAC rival. Beaver proved victorious, winning 4-2.
At the top of the first inning, Greater Allegheny made 2 runs, as Beaver's Justyn Francona pitched (Francona would pitch for all 9 innings). Beaver scored 3 runs at the bottom of the first, as Francona flied out to center field with a sacrifice fly, gaining an RBI as Shelton Hilliard made a run. Zack Cossette singled out to right field, gaining an RBI as Ty Cole ran to home. Logan Gibbons soon also singled out to right field, gaining an RBI as Cossette ran home.
Following a scoreless second, Beaver gained another run at the bottom of the third. Gibbons was at bat again, this time landing the ball out to center field, gaining a SAC fly and an RBI as Cossette once again ran home. This would be the final run of the game, giving Beaver a 4-2 victory after 9 innings.
The team is now 5-10 overall and 4-3 in their conference matchups. They will travel to Woodland Hills High School tomorrow afternoon, facing off against Penn State Greater Allegheny again, this time in a double header.
