Beaver Falls at Home to Mont Alto
Monaca, PA -- Beaver Falls at Home to Mont Alto
By: Chris Rotondo
Beaver returned to home Wednesday afternoon to take on Penn State Mont Alto, their third matchup in two days. The game had similar results to Tuesday's Mont Alto double header; this time, Beaver fell 8-5.
From the top of the game, Mont Alto gained 2 runs and early control of the game. It wasn't until the bottom of the second that Beaver made an impact, making 2 runs of their own. Stefan Romaniuk and Logan Gibbons each made runs after Mitchell Lazaretti doubled, gaining 2 RBIs. The game was tied at 2 at the bottom of the second.
After a scoreless third, Mont Alto came into the fourth gaining another run. Beaver did the same in the bottom of the fourth, with Romaniuk once again scoring after Shelton Hilliard singled with an RBI. That tied the game up at 3.
The fifth and sixth went scoreless, but Beaver struck in the bottom of the seventh with 2 runs. Justyn Francona doubled with an RBI and later scored, following a double RBI from Scott Hughes. The 2 runs put Beaver ahead 5-3. However, Mont Alto struck back at the top of the eighth, making 5 runs. This all but killed the momentum for Beaver, who went scoreless in the eighth and ninth innings. After once being in the lead, Beaver fell to Mont Alto 8-5.
The team is now 4-10 in their overall season and 3-3 in their conference matches. They will return home Friday afternoon, taking on Penn State Greater Allegheny in another conference matchup.
