Beaver Continues Win Streak
Beaver defeats Mont Alto 11-6
Mont Alto, PA -- Beaver continues three game win streak with an 11-6 victory at Mont Alto.
Traveling to Mont Alto for a single 9-inning game, Beaver looked to continue their win streak and did just that as they started their scoring early in the first inning on a Justyn Francona (New Brighton, PA / New Brighton) RBI single.
After allowing Mont Alto to take the lead in the bottom of the first (2-1), Beaver answered with a three run third. For the second time in the game, Blaise McCarty (Beaver Falls, PA / Riverside) singled and stole second to put a runner in scoring position. Jordan Price (Conway, PA / Freedom) then singled to advance McCarty and Price advanced to second on a steal. With two runners now in position to score, Francona would reach on a error allowing McCarty to score the first of the three runs this inning. Nick Casasanta (Moon Twp, PA / Moon) then advanced the runners in his at bat, scoring Price. Capping off the inning was Matt Capo (Moon Township, PA / Moon) who hit an RBI single to score Francona.
With a 4-2 lead, Beaver added an additional two runs in the fourth off of the bat of Price who hit a 2-RBI double. Mont Alto refused to go away without a fight, adding a run of their own in the bottom of the inning. After four innings Beaver led 6-3.
The 5th inning was a turning point in the game as Mont Alto was forced to make a pitching change to try to slow the Beaver offense, but even after the change Beaver continued to score adding three runs in the fifth and another run in the sixth.
After a scoreless 7th, the score at 10-5 in favor of Beaver, Mont Alto would put up a run in the eighth, but they could not overcome the Beaver pitching and defense as Beaver would cap off their lead with a single run in the 9th off of a McCarty single as they would go on to win by a final score of 11-6.
Leading the offense was McCarty who went 5 for 5 with 2 RBI's. Price was also outstanding from the plate going 3 for 6 with 2 RBI's. And earning his fifth win of the season on the mound was Casasanta who threw 8 innings, striking out six batters of the 36 faced.
