Beaver bats were on fire in game one of the home opener. After a scoreless first inning, Beaver put three runs on the board in the bottom of the second inning. Butler added a run in the top of the third to make it three to one, but Beaver had an answer for that in the bottom half of the inning. The lineup erupted for an impressive 11 run inning making it 14-1.
That pretty much summed up the game and they didnt look back after that playing stellar defense with solid pitching from Jake Debo. This game would only last five innings with the ten run rule coming into effect after the fifth inning. Beaver added one more run in the fourth to make it 15-1.
There were only seven hits that put up 15 runs for Beaver. Leading in batting for Beaver was Nick Casasanta, Blaise McCarty, and Derek Bozic, who all had two hits. Casasanta scored three runs and had two RBI's. McCarty scored once, had three RBI's and drew a walk. Bozic also scored three times and had an RBI. Jake Debo threw a wonderful game racking up ten strikeouts through five innings while only giving up one unearned run.
Game two didnt have the explosive hitting but the runs came from timely hitting and good plate discipline. After another scoreless first Beaver scraped across a run in the second inning making it 1-0 heading into the third. Beaver strung some hits together in the third putting up five runs to make it 6-0.
Butler scored two unearned runs in the top of the fourth making it 6-2. Beaver answered with another run in the bottom half of the inning making it 7-2. Beaver actually had 12 hits in this game but they were scattered throughout the ball game to limit the bleading for Butler.
There were five people with two hits a piece in game two and all having an RBI. That included Blaise McCarty, Tyler Thellman, Stephen Antolic, Matt Capo, and Derek Bozic. Throwing a complete game from the mound was Nick Casasanta. He threw an astounding 71 strikes and only 32 balls racking up eight strikeouts to go along with it. Beaver returns to action at home on saturday against Houghton College, at 2 and 4 p.m.
