Beaver Sweeps PS Wilkes-Barre

Monaca, PA - On Saturday, April 17, the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions baseball team swept Penn State Wilkes-Barre in a conference doubleheader, 14-7 and 9-3.
In the first game, Beaver built a strong 7-1 lead in the first 3 innings and scored 7 runs combined in the fifth and sixth to take the win.
Freshman Alex Filippi (Center High School, Aliquippa, PA) had 2 hits and 3 RBIs, freshman Markus Allen had 3 hits and 2 RBIs, and freshman Vinnie Beatty (Rochester High School, Rochester, PA) had 2 hits and 2 RBIs.
In the second game, Beaver got on the board in the third inning and scored 5 runs for a 5-1 advantage. The team held Wilkes-Barre to just 2 runs for the remainder of the game, and scored 4 more of its own for the win.
Senior Ryan Raraigh (Riverside High School, Fombell, PA) had 3 hits and 2 RBIs, and senior Greg Frederick (Quaker Valley High School, Fair Oaks, PA) had 3 RBIs.
The team, now 7-3 in the PSUAC and 11-10 overall, will host Penn State Mont Alto in a doubleheader beginning at noon, Sunday, April 18.
