Lions Take two From Penn State Brandywine

Monaca, PA - The Penn State Beaver baseball team won both games of its PSUAC double-header vs. Penn State Brandywine, winning the first game 6-1, and the second 5-4.
In the first game, Beaver was up 6-0 before letting Brandywine score just one run in the 7th inning. The winning pitcher for the game was senior Greg Frederick (Quaker Valley High School/Fair Oaks, PA), who pitched all 7 innings. Frederick had 14 strike outs and just one earned run, and is now 5-1 on the season for pitching.
At bat, Senior Ryan Raraigh (Riverside High School/Fombell, PA) had 2 doubles and 3 runs scored. Freshman Cory Wagner (Center High School/Aliquippa, PA) had 3 RBI's, and Freshmen Markus Allen (Uniontown High School/New Castle, PA) and Alex Filippi (Center High School/Aliquippa, PA) both had 3 hits.
In the second game, Beaver started off the scoring with 3 runs in the first inning, and extended its lead to 5-2 after the 4th inning. Brandywine came back into the game with 2 runs in the 6th, but it wasn't enough.
In the win, Allen hit a 2 run homer, and Frederick had 3 hits, 3 stolen bases, and came in the 7th inning to strike out all 3 Brandywine batters. Raraigh also had 2 doubles for Beaver.
The team is now 5-3 in the PSUAC and 9-10 overall. On Saturday, April 17th, Beaver hosts Penn State Wilkes-Barre at 2 p.m.
