Softball picks up two key wins against Beaver

Game One: Penn State Mont Alto 1, Penn State Beaver 0

Delaney Glazer stymied the Beaver offense in game one, striking out ten batters and allowing just one hit over seven innings of work. Kirsten Dell led the Mont Alto offense with three hits reaching base in every at-bat.

Both teams went scoreless through the first inning in game one until Mont Alto scored the only run of the game in the second inning. Emily Sicinski reached base via a walk with one out and Sierra Sims later got into scoring position after reaching on a fielder's choice and stealing second base. Dani-Lynn Barklow singled to center field on the next at-bat, giving Mont Alto a 1-0 advantage in the second inning.

Glazer and the Mont Alto defense would finish the job the rest of the way as Beaver couldn't muster a hit over the next five innings of play.

Penn State Mont Alto utilized an eight run, eight hit bottom of the third inning to pull away with the second game against Beaver on Friday afternoon. Kirsten Dell kept the Beaver hitters off balance all afternoon as she went the distance and picked up her eighth win on the season.

Beaver scored the first two runs of game two on a couple of Mont Alto fielding errors in the inning. Mont Alto would quickly tie the game in the home half of the inning as Rachel Alleman scored Dell on a RBI single to left field.
