Women's Basketball Falls to Penn State Beaver

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. - Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball fell to PSUAC opponent Penn State Beaver on Friday.

Beaver took an early lead with an 8-0 run at the beginning of the contest, but Schuylkill quickly responded with a 7-2 run, making it a one-possession game with 6:43 left in the opening period. Beaver later established a 10-0 run, securing a double-digit lead for the rest of the first half.

During the third quarter, Schuylkill outscored Beaver 21 to 12, concluding the period with a 15-4 run. Ava Novak (New Media, PA / Southern Columbia High School) showcased her scoring prowess, contributing 11 of her game-high 23 points in Schuylkill's third-quarter surge. Additionally, Schuylkill dominated the boards, outrebounding Beaver 16 to 7.

Despite a three-point basket by Novak narrowing Schuylkill's deficit to 59-51 with 8:22 remaining, Beaver managed to extend their lead back to double digits and maintained it for the rest of the contest.

Novak finished with 23 and 9 for Schuylkill. Also finishing with 9 rebounds were Jasmine Wright (Sicklerville, NJ / Winslow Township High School) and Malak Mowafi (Iselin, NJ / John F Kennedy Memorial High School) who added 11 and 9 points respectively. Allison Crockett (Liverpool, PA / Greenwood High School) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.

Schuylkill (5-10 overall, 3-5 PSUAC) will take on Penn State Fayette on Saturday, January 13th for their next matchup.
