Strickland resigns as women's head basketball coach
MONACA, PA – Head Women's Basketball Coach, Sean Strickland resigns from Penn State Beaver after two seasons to pursue a new opportunity.
In his two seasons with the program, Strickland posted a record of 36-19 overall and 25-6 in the PSUAC leading his team into the post-season both years. This past season, dropping only two conference games, he took the team to the PSUAC Championship where they finished as runner-up against Penn State Lehigh Valley, who went undefeated on the year. Their performance also landed them a trip to the USCAA National Tournament where they advanced into the quarterfinals before being eliminated.
During his tenure, Strickland has coached one Penn State Beaver Student-Athlete of the Year, two USCAA Academic All-Americans, one USCAA All-American, one USCAA Player of the Week, three PSUAC Players of the Year, three PSUAC All-Conference players, twelve PSUAC Academic All-Conference players and four PSUAC Players of the Week.
"We appreciate all of Sean's time and effort he poured into the women's basketball program during the past two seasons," Director of Athletics Andy Kirschner said. "We're obviously disappointed to lose a coach like Sean, but we understand his decision to pursue other options. We wish him and his family all the best and are thankful for the great job he has done with the team."
A search for the new Penn State Beaver head women's basketball coach is underway with several well qualified candidates already interested in the position.
