Seven Student-Athletes Named PSUAC All-Conference
Monaca, PA -- Seven Penn State Beaver student-athletes named PSUAC All-Conference.
As the fall championships were held in the last week of October and first week of November, the PSUAC All-Conference award winners we announced in conjuction with their respective championships.
In women's volleyball, four student-athletes earned honors. Named to the PSUAC 1st Team was senior, Roxy Kie. Kie finished the season with 669 assists, third best in the conference. She also tallied 65 kills, 54 aces and 203 digs. Three other players were named PSUAC Honorable Mention. Senior, Jenna Petrucci who finished tied for 7th in the conference in kills with 217 and also tallied 56 aces. Brooke Tomasko, a sophonore from Blackhawk high school, also tallied 217 kills and finished second in the PSUAC in service aces with 89 on the season. Rounding out the gruop was sophoomre, Alexis Albrecht, who finished third in the conference with 76 aces as well as tallying 198 digs on the season.
In men's soccer two players earned 1st Team All-Conference honors, sophomore, Shelton Hilliard and senior, Brandon Golonka. Hilliard had 9 goals this season and 4 assists for a total of 22 points this season. Golonka, a defensive player, made a huge impact this season as the team struggled with injuries to both their starting and back-up goalies. He was a force in the backfield, and helped his team offensively by contributing one goal this year.
Finally, in women's soccer, the lone player to be named PSUAC All-Conferenc was sophomore, Glycerine Bauman. Bauman, also a defensive player, kept Beaver alive from the back field.
Also earning honors in the PSUAC, in a new sportsmanship award, named in honor of the former commishioner, John Fritz, were Amanda Mike (volleyball), Zach Petey (men's soccer) and Brittany Zahn (women's soccer).
